In July 2023 we launched Australia’s first hydrogen powered home in Melbourne. HyHome is a demonstration project that showcases how 100% hydrogen gas powered appliances, such as a cooktop, BBQ, heating and hot water work in a residential setting.
Our HyHome has received attention from around the world – including coverage in local media. And we have loved hosting the TV show My Market Kitchen as they filmed 30 cooking segments for their latest series – a great opportunity to share the experience of cooking with hydrogen gas to a wider audience. Perhaps you have already seen some of these segments on TV?
Below we share just a few of the many delicious recipes you can find in the latest season of My Market Kitchen on Channel 10.

Pasta Alla Gricia
Sous chef in the HyHome kitchen this day was Michele from the AGN team, and she and Laura cooked up this easy, but tasty, crowd pleaser.
Ingredients (serves 4 entrée plates):
- 250g fresh pasta
- 200g pancetta or guanciale
- 2 tbs unsalted butter
- 1 cup freshly grated pecorino cheese, please buy a block
- 1 tbs freshly cracked black pepper
Method:
Begin by bringing a pot of salted boiling water to the boil. Once boiling add pasta and cook till al dente. (Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water for the sauce.)
In a cold frypan add the bacon and place onto a high heat - allowing the bacon to get golden and super crispy. Drain onto paper towels and set aside.
In another fry pan, add 1/2 cup of the pasta water and butter and allow to boil until it’s a buttery and melted consistency. Once the sauce is boiling, add the pecorino cheese to the sauce with the pepper, and finally add the cooked pasta and toss to emulsify.
Plate immediately and serve with all the crispy bacon on top of the pasta.
