The rebate amount varies depending on the appliance type, the Gas Energy Rating of the appliance, and whether that appliance is a 'new load' appliance (this means it's a new, not replacement, installation that adds another source of gas usage to the home) or a gas-to-gas replacement (this means it's a replacement of the same gas appliance type). Most offers are specifically for existing dwellings, but if you’ve just built (or are in the process of building) a home in SA, NT, QLD or NSW, speak to our Natural Gas Marketing Team to check which select rebates are available for new homes.

Key T&Cs:

  • Only eligible appliance types that meet the minimum Gas Energy Rating for that type will be eligible for a rebate.
  • Hot water rebates are only available to eligible appliances installed in an existing dwelling (new build dwellings are excluded), connected to the natural gas distribution network owned by AGN. Use this postcode list to determine eligibility if you are in QLD or NSW – no postcode review is necessary for SA or NT since AGN is the sole gas distributor in these areas. No new offers are eligible to AGN customers in VIC at this stage.
  • Eligible appliances must be purchased by the end of the Promotion Period (i.e. by 31 December 2024) and installed by the end of the Grace Period at the latest (i.e. by 28 February 2025). A rebate claim (or a cashback claim; see FAQ ‘How can I claim the rebate offers?’ for more information) must also be lodged by the end of the Grace Period at the latest.

Heads up: if you are connecting an existing dwelling to natural gas for the very first time, AGN is offering a Connection Bonus of up to $750. The majority of our rebate offers are for existing dwellings connected or connecting to the natural gas distribution networks owned by Australian Gas Networks (AGN). However, we have a select range of rebates available for new builds - these rebates are for eligible heating appliances and outdoor living appliances (there are no rebates available for hot water or indoor cooking appliances installed in new builds). Check out this page for details on what's available to new builds.

In 2024, our rebate offers focus on assisting our customers choose and install energy efficient natural gas appliances. This year's offers are available to AGN customers in SA, NT, NSW and QLD (no new offers are available to AGN customers in Victoria at this point in time). If you are a customer in NSW or QLD, please be aware that AGN is not the sole gas distributor in your state and there are other gas distributors. You can refer to this postcode list to check if AGN is the distributor in your area. Alternatively, you are welcome to call our Natural Gas Marketing Team on 1300 001 001 (Option 7) to double-check.

The current Promotion Period for AGN's rebate campaign runs from 1 April 2024 to 31 December 2024. Eligible appliances need to be purchased by the end date of the Promotion Period, however, you will have until the end of the Grace Period to finalise appliance installation and claim your rebate. The Grace Period starts once the Promotion Period ends, so it will run from 1 January 2025 to 28 February 2025.

The Promotion Period and the Grace Period together make up the 'Campaign Period'. No rebates will be paid to connections or appliance installations completed outside of the 2024 Campaign Period – unless:

  • Those connections or appliance installations meet the T&Cs of AGN’s 2023 Campaign (in which case, a Grace Period until 30 June 2024 is available to finalise installation and claim lodgement). Contact AGN’s Natural Gas Marketing Team on 1300 001 001 (Option 7) or online to double-check.
  • An existing dwelling that connects to natural gas for the first time during the 2024 Campaign Period installs additional appliances within the first 12 months of being connected, since this may mean they are eligible to claim more of the available Connection Bonus (which is a maximum of $750 but can be claimed incrementally or in entirety, depending on the number of eligible appliances connected at the time and within the first 12 months of the gas meter installation date).

There are two ways you can claim a rebate.

Option 1. Claim via a rebate supplier. With this option, you choose a participating rebate supplier to complete the natural gas work you require (including supply and/or installation of your natural gas appliances) and who will then manage the rebate claim for you. A ‘rebate supplier’ is a gasfitting business or gas appliance store that has officially registered to AGN’s 2024 Natural Gas Rebate Campaign and who has agreed to facilitate rebate payment to eligible customers. This means your rebate supplier will provide you the rebate either as a discount from price or as a refund that will be passed onto you once they have received reimbursement from us – meaning there is no requirement on you to lodge any rebate paperwork to us. Easy!

Option 2. Claim via our cashback website. Alternatively, you can claim direct from us once appliance installation is complete - this may be because your chosen tradesperson is not registered with our campaign, or simply because you prefer to manage your claim directly. To claim direct, go to our cashback website (www.agnpromotions.com.au ) and fill out the application form. You'll need to make sure you have:

  1. A copy of the Gas Certificate of Compliance (also called 'Gas Compliance Certificate' or 'Gas System Compliance Certificate' depending on your state)
  2. A copy of the invoice from your gasfitter showing the supply and installation of your appliance, OR a proof or purchase for the appliance (e.g. receipt) and an installer's invoice - if you have bought your appliance independently to your installer.
  3. Your gas meter number or 'Meter Installation Registration Number (MIRN), to correctly identify your gas connection. Your gas bill should list either your gas meter number or your MIRN (sometimes both). Your MIRN is made up of 10-11 digits, starting with a '5'.

Approved claims will be paid as a cashback deposited direct to the nominated bank account (EFT transfer).

Easy! You can use our website's online directory to get in touch with a gas specialist near you - just look up your suburb or postcode (apply any appliance filters that you wish) and you'll be presented with rebate suppliers/businesses familiar with our natural gas rebate offers and who are closest to your area.
